Summer Holiday Destination - Pambula, NSW

The Sapphire Coast of NSW is home to beautiful blue waters, white sandy beaches, national parks and stunning coastal walks.

As large as it is beautiful, Australia is replete with wonderful destinations to visit when summer rears its head once more. No matter which direction you point your vehicle, there is a destination that can sate the wanderlust of even the most adventurous of souls as December approaches.

Sitting halfway between Sydney and Melbourne, the Sapphire Coast of NSW is home to beautiful blue waters, white sandy beaches, national parks and stunning coastal walks that allow visitors to soak up the natural flora and fauna. The perfect domain for summertime water activities, Pambula is not short of activities to keep the whole family busy. Go surfing at the main beach or stick to the shore for rock pools at low tide. Bar Beach on Merimbula Lake is small, sheltered and ideal for snorkelling or swimming with the family. Or head over to Panboola Wetlands, a 77-hectate nature reserve and wetland complete with walking and cycling tracks, wildlife and picnic areas.

The caveat, however, is that while Pambula offers dream destinations where you can secure a spot for your caravan right by the beach at caravan parks such as Reflections Holiday Parks: Pambula, or Discovery Parkes: Pambula Beach, these spots can come with a hefty price tag during peak times and require forward planning to secure a booking.

There are free campsites available, but most will be a bit of a trek if you have your heart set on spending each day at Pambula Beach. If all you’re after is water activities, and a respite from the heat, it can be just as beneficial to head inland and explore the free camping available along the Murray River, as well as the sporting or leisure activities, paddle boats and various towns this part of Australia has to offer.
